Rencontre Artistique Monaco–Japon
March, 2012
The Monaco–Japan artistic meeting was an annual cultural exchange exhibition bringing together artists from Monaco, Japan, and international participants. In March 2012, the event was held at the Auditorium Rainier III in Monte-Carlo, one of Monaco’s main cultural venues, and featured contemporary paintings and artworks in a diplomatic and cultural context. The exhibition aimed to strengthen cultural ties between Monaco and Japan through visual arts, promoting dialogue between European and Japanese artistic traditions and showcasing international contemporary artists active in Monaco.
Plotnikov participated in this official cultural program and related exhibitions of that period, presenting the works “Japan (Japon)” and “The Pearl.” His painting Japan attracted particular attention during the event, with many visitors—especially Japanese visitors and diplomats—expressing admiration and enthusiasm for the work, praising its poetic atmosphere and its sensitive interpretation of Japanese culture.
The Venice in Monte-Carlo: The Grand Masked Ball
February, 2015
A high-profile cultural and social event celebrating Venetian heritage, costume, and artistic tradition within the cosmopolitan setting of Monaco. Inspired by the elegance and theatricality of the Venetian Carnival, the event brought together collectors and international guests dressed in elaborate Venetian masks and period costumes, transforming Monte-Carlo into a living tableau of Venetian fantasy.
During this event, Plotnikov exhibited works from his Visions of Venice collection, including the painting Blue Hat. The painting, with its refined depiction of Venetian atmosphere and costume, resonated strongly with the immersive setting of the ball. Many visitors, dressed in authentic Venetian attire, were drawn to the artwork and playfully posed in front of it, as if stepping into the painted scene and becoming part of the composition themselves.
